Riliana

That night the sky was raining as if it were sorrowful and broken-hearted, a heavy rain until the water began to overflow and thunder boomed louder than the roar of lions. Beneath that rain Riliana walked like a dead one who had lost her soul, walking among the people while no one looked at her, as though she had that day become one of the forgotten ghosts. She walked on and kept going with no road, tears burning her cheeks, and in that moment her most beautiful wish was to die quietly. In that moment she had had enough of the world's betrayal — how cruel are the children of Adam and how cruel is the heart, tormenting none but those who love it truly and sincerely, and loving none but those who make it taste misery and break it.
She kept walking, carrying within her pains and aches too great for her tender heart to bear, but what is one to do when the ways grow narrow before you and doors close in your face — you become as a prisoner even though you are free, feeling as though you are a bird that loved life but life broke its wings so it must live upon the earth amid the injustice of men, where the world shows no mercy.
